The Hidden Danger Behind the Visible Damage
The fallen tree made the need for repairs obvious. What could not be seen was the asbestos blended into the wall compound and sheetrock tape. Because those materials ran throughout the house, ordinary demolition could have spread fibers beyond the work area.
The safest path forward was a controlled, whole-interior abatement – removing the affected walls and ceilings before rebuilding began.
Containment Came First
Before a single wall was opened, the crew isolated the work zone. Windows, doors, vents, penetrations, and other critical barriers were sealed so dust and fibers could not migrate outside containment.

- HEPA-filtered negative-air machines ran continuously throughout the work.
- Workers entered in full protective clothing, gloves, and appropriate respiratory protection.

A Removal Project Measured in Rooms – Not Patches
With asbestos-containing joint materials found throughout the home, spot repairs were not enough. The team carefully removed the affected drywall, tape, and compound across the interior, working methodically inside the negative-pressure containment.

Protected, Packaged, and Removed
Every section of asbestos-containing material had to leave the house under controlled conditions. Waste was double-bagged in labeled 6-mil asbestos disposal bags, or securely wrapped when size and shape required it, before being placed in the designated container for regulated disposal.

The Clean-down: Where the Job is Proven
Removal was only the midpoint. The exposed framing, floors, ledges, and remaining surfaces were thoroughly cleaned with commercial HEPA vacuums. A lockdown encapsulant was then applied to designated surfaces to bind residual microscopic fibers on porous or difficult-to-clean areas.

Passed, Broken Down, and Ready to Rebuild
The work area passed both the final visual inspection and the 90-minute air-clearance test. Only then were the negative-air machines removed, the three-chamber decontamination unit dismantled, and the containment carefully taken down.
A final cleanup left the property ready for contractors to assess the structure and begin rebuilding – without disturbing asbestos-containing wall and ceiling materials.
